We have to have a photoshoot at Gerrys Grill at 7-730 so YOU HAVE TO WEAR YOUR TEAM JERSEYS to identify you as participants. The headcount as of 730am today was 220 riders. Over 100 vehicles filled the large parking lot provided by Gerrys Grill Tagaytay. around 8am we started the ride with Police Escorts from Tagaytay City. the downhill from Nasugbu was easy, fun and fast. After town of Tuy on the way to town of Calaca the peloton was led by a motorcycle escort and speed became high. boss Jojo baterna of team logic gate tried to chase marshall and request for him to slow down but unfortunately he didnt...."he is a racing motorcycle escort " i said...and the peloton laughs. SN aboitiz team with manny rubio in cycleworx singapore team kit upped the speed also and organized a team time trial to lead the peloton with their strong riders with 4 rocka riders hanging on for dear life. a stray dog resulted in a spill..and boss vic got caught in crash.( get well soon boss vic.) after SN ABoitiz up the tempo...team rocka team led by aldi cua engr rolly cruz, noel baltazar, liston yao and raymond see formed a small chase group..later team XTERRA led by deon james and mike yngson formed a catch up squad and left team rocka in tatters. There was a second and bigger wave of cyclists in the 3rd chase group consisting this time by powerhouse team YELLOW CAB/cycling zone with cooperation of team heritage park and team CNC that gave very very strong chase....and later captured team rocka too at the start of the climbs up payapa...the groups reduced to smaller groups...each man on his own to climb 37kms of Payapa i was doing ok but unfortunately i cant stop the 100 more cyclists who passed me...so 100 more cyclists definitely much stronger than my team...who got caught by the stronger cyclists. only a few people knows it...but husband and wife team winston and ave chua with teamrocka teammate liston yao OPTED to park their cars at Paseo de Sta Rosa then rode the length of sta rosa by bicycle to the starting line at Gerrys then still caught me up the climbs in Payapa..so im very sure they are gonna give the cyclists in Thailand a pretty good fight when we go there in MaY. dondie caught me today. i cant give chase. have stomach cramps today so just played it easy. so dondie "wins" the bente bente race today. warmest congratulations dondie! some riders opted to have coca cola stops..some went straight ahead to gerrys to try and get their personal best records.. i was targetting to be at the finish line by 1200pm...(my previous record for similar route was 1pm)...i arrived 1205pm so 5 minutes late still a good time ...nevertheless most guys were really really strong. i also have to congratulate teamfilchi riders allan chu, carlos tan and rocka teammate philip go and noel baltazar who all posted better times than me today. To team cnc's kuya kotz and atty lito ...who caught me also near the finish congratulations sir! to those who said hello after they caught me...so many of them guys... thanks so much for participating in this fun ride. overall a very successful FUN RIDE and record turnout of 220 riders. Meal stubs were distributed and the lunch was Chicken with vegetable side dish with dash of chicharon and served with bottomless Ice tea. During lunch boss Vic Cordero was acknowledged and given resounding applause. afterwards there was a raffle and so many cyclists were given Gerrys Grill T shirts, 300 pesos gift certificates and discount coupons. Overall a FANTASTIC WELL ORGANIZED AND SUCCESSFUL FUN RIDE.
