Travel Log: Amazing Thailand Aug 3,4,5,6 2007

dear friends

we went to Thailand for a 3 day vacation over the weekend...here is our travel log..

...my wife (the proprietor of rmrmetalfab) and daughter stands in front of "the ring" sculpture of 13 outstanding artist awardee Reginald Yuson

Reginald had sought the services of our small stainless specialty shop RMR Metalfab for the fabrication of this towering scupture for Don Jaime Zobel's Greenbelt Cinema in Makati Philippines.

2nd august 2007

the morning was specially busy my wife is now in charge of our other shop..the stainless shop while i have to take care of my new business that of the rocka1bikeshop..there was work to be done..items to be delivered to clients and a last minute buying for essentials for our trip to bangkok.

two clients didnt know we are on our way for an out of town trip ..and demanded they have to have their stainless handles on a saturday after we received their orders on a thursday!

we had to politely accept their orders anyway then by 10pm me and my wife proceeded to our condotel in Makati...arriving around 11pm i was absolutely drained...maybe it was the right time to have some rest and recreation afterall... so we called it a day

3rd August 2007

we arrived in good order after 3 hours of flying time...and disembarked at the new airport which was pretty huge, clean and modern...at the ultra modern less than a year old Suvarnabhumi airport...we arrived in time for the Universiadde Bangkok 2007 so had fotos taken at the airport.

our tourist guide Poona fetched us at the airport and brought us to the Arnoma hotel in downtown bangkok...right in the middle of at least 4 shopping centers Big C, Gayson, Zen and Isetan...

walking distance from our hotel we saw the big MBK and new Siam Paragon shopping center..here at the Siam Paragon is the site of the Bangkok 2007 stamps exhibition which opens Agust 3 to 12, 2007. We went to the stamp exhibition after having lunch at the Food Court. My wife and myself had delicious seafood mixture on top of fried noodles . Afterwards we had foto taken at the Porsche, Ferrari, Lamborgini stores at the Siam Paragon...which also has Siam Ocean World at its basement.

The following day 4th of August we woke up early for the guided tour..we had breakfast at the Arnoma Hotel..then waited for our tourist guide Poona at the lobby..

Poona says the tour includes a city tour around Bangkok Chinatown famous for its gold shops... afterwards we will be visiting the Marble Parliament and the Old Palace.

The streets were lined with fantastic elaborate arches and my wife whose hobby is Photography had a field day.

Cameras werent allowed at the Old Palace nor the Marble Parliament...so i decided to buy the postcards instead. After lunch we visited the Bangkok Gem Factory..then the Leather factory where fantastic bags belts and wallets were shown available for the tourist. The front desk lady at the eather factory had a knife and cutting through fake Stingray wallets...afterwards she tried cutting through original Stingray wallet and showed everyone how tough stingray wallet was. Then we were herded to the leather factory where i admired stingray, ostrich and crocodile leather...I saw this beautiful mint green crocodile hand bag for sale and asked for the price. It costs 22thousand baht (US$500) i asked my wife if she wants it..however mu wife finds it too expensive so decided not to purchase.

after the standard tour package..we decided we want to go see the temples. so for extra 600baht per person the tour guide Poona brought us to the Wat Pho temple where we had fotos

the old guard of the temple of the reclining buddha

taken at the temple of the reclining buddha and the Temple of the Dawn Wat Arun

my wife margie is dwarfed by two giant Garudas guarding the temple of the dawn

the two temples were fantastic place to see and there were so many tourists in the temples.
