once a year, rocka1bikeshop sponsors a fun run to promote bulacan as cycling friendly territory. this year rocka1bikeshop had chosen to sponsor the century miler fun ride of the pinoymtbikers.com from Manila UP to Angat Church in Bulacan to the Geographical Boundary Marker Kandila up the hills of Dona Remedios Trinidad..the town named after the mother of Imelda Marcos here in Bulacan

Franzia Wines Cycling Team management has just come out of a meeting with BIKEZILLA manager Ado de leon somewhere in ortigas...and from the looks of it a majority of Franzia wines cycling team members will soon be seen riding ARGON E114s or 112s TIME TRIAL BIKES and will soon be looking better with LAZER HELMETS too.

FRANZIA rider Arjuna Saulo of BIKEZILLA was instrumental in recommending team FRANZIA as one of the better teams to carry BIKEZILLA brands for season 2011.

Present during today's meeting is Franzia Team Owner Lucio Cochanco Jr, team manager Raymond See, Asst manager Philipg and team captain Jimmy Cadena with Raymond Lim as observer.

Ado de Leon BIKEZILLA manager on the other hand says BIKEZILLA MANAGEMENT is extremely glad and delighted that a very popular and friendly team like FRANZIA WINES will now be representing their product lines in most of the business class races here and in Thailand for this season.

after light dinner at PANCAKES house in ortigas center....the group proceeded to the BIKEZILLA store located behind OAKWOODS hotel near Asian Development Bank in Ortigas center and the managers were introduced to the new models of ARGON, LAZER, TOKEN, SANTINI, FSA ,POWERTAP, LITESPEED and KUOTA found inside the shop.

Both parties agreed that the tie up will be both beneficial to the FRANZIA wines cycling team as well as to BIKEZILLA and that team FRANZIA will be good role model in promoting the products the bike shop carried.

we look forward to the start of a very fruitful relationship between these two parties.

i just want to congratulate all the winners and participants who competed in Tour of Matabungkay over the weekend...October 21 22 23 2011.

my friends TJ Carrey and NELLIE Ng was instrumental in bringing in heavy artillery this year.. i'm just the local coordinator.

Ernie said "if no foreign riders this year..it would have been a boring race. Thanks for bringing in the competition its like going overseas for a cycling race".

ALL the foreign riders from FRANZIA and MOSSIMO had a terrific weekend and promises to come back next year for more. Michelle Chelle Domingo Barnachea was unstoppable up the climbs, Mae Ojales inspite of lack of training hanged on and snatched second...fantastic results...well done!

I have to thank my friend's Alan Allan Chu Robert Yu, Neil Confesor, George Yu Edmond Motomal for braving it out this year..it was extra difficult race this year.

PINPIN UY in stage 3 had to run back fetch yellow jersey COLIN ROBERTSON who had a puncture and tow him back to the lead group...before start of the climb up PAYAPA...LEE RODGERS was the gentleman who chased any Filipino rider who attacked when the yellow jersey was in trouble and asked people to wait. EXTREMELY DECENT gesture THANKS SO MUCH.

PINPIN UY received the TTT champions trophy on behalf of FRANZIA. He has now received an invite from COLIN ROBERTSON to become the first FILIPINO rider to ride under the international recognized team COLLOSSI based in HONGKONG..warmest congratulations pinpin

I do not need to tell anyone how generous was the brothers BATERNA for putting up time effort and money to bring the race to next level... and BOSS Cochanco Lucio for his unwavering support to team this year a big THANK YOU to you boss...

Count the number of FRANZIA victories this year on the local front and international scene and Damian Barrett was right to observe "it should be the biggest trophy haul for FRANZIA this year and here in Tour of MATABUNGKAY" I HAVE TO THANK everyone on the team. WELL DONE teammates.

I have to thank all the people behind the Tour of Matabungkay this year, the ads on group, baterna brothers Jojo and Quin, the lady behind the legwork miss Eva, the people behind the officiating Ric Rodriguez et al and Rico Violeta and Joie Oliveros who was all smiles this year after the staging of one of the most memorable Tours this year.

the foreigners vow to come back with "proper teams" next year. It could only mean ....there will be more fireworks in 2012.

TOUR OF FRIENDSHIP 2011.

4 Colossi riders joined up with our great friends from the Philippines and rode under the colors of Franzia Wine, one of the top Executive Teams in Philippine cycling. The team sponsor being Lucio Cochanco Jr.

Matthew Kenfield at the start of the 1st stage, ITT Tour of Friendship 2011. This was Matt's first stage race and he accredited himself well. On the 3rd stage, he got away in a major break and finished 10th overall on the stage. On the remaining two stages, he was involved in all the major moves at the front and managed to get away in every break. Very aggressive riding from a new boy to the sport and we can expect some good things from him in the future.

Presentation after 4th stage. Mark Cook 2nd and Damian Barrett 3rd. Damian was riding with a Singaporean team.

On the 3rd stage, Mark and Damian got away at a very early stage and rode well together. for over 120 km. They opened up a gap of over 3 minutes on the chasing bunch and maintained it to the end. In recognition of the work that Mark did in the break, Damian in true sportsman fashion, did not contest the final sprint.

On the 4th stage they both got away together again but on this occasion they were accompanied by the Thai rider, who took the stage with Mark 2nd and Damian 3rd.

Apart from the success of Mark, Pinpin Uy, the local Franzia boy was 3rd in the first stage and again he showed his top sprinting form, in the final stage by taking 3rd place. Pinpin is one of the top Executive racers in the Philippines and is one to be feared when it comes to a bunch sprint. He accredited himself well in this international event and narrowly missed out on taking 1st place on the final stage, sprinting with a broken spoke did not help his cause.

The beautiful Mae The Fox, who hails from lovely Cebu, was 5th in the final stage. This was her first major stage race.

Keith Powell, from Japan, riding with Team Franzia Wine also got onto the podium on 3 occasions and finished 4th in GC in the 40-49 age group.

After organizer bring us to hotel NONTHANBURI....i am now sitting at the restaurant at Nonthanburi palace with coach, pinpin, quin danny and rene tablante. Relax mode now. we are having light dinner. The other table sits 7lakes. Pldt team on another table.bangkok 1hour ahead of manila time. 5pm here 6pm in manila. I met keith powell he was jolly fellow he thanks boss for the Franzia jersey subsidy. I met exteam manager of Anza robert meek. "I ride as privateer. give me a Franzia jersey i ride and help Franzia." i will talk to him later. 630pm there will be welcome dinner. This the news for now.

Dear friends. Last nite i already smell humidity outside hotel and told matthew kenfield to expect rains tomorow. Bought rainy weather kenda c2c yesterday at infinite bikeshop. Put them on last nite.830am today at the start of stage2 freak thunderstorm hit cyclists from the start up to 110kms. The route to supalai resort was the equivalent of SLEX hiway 9AM in the morning! TRAFFIC WAS HEAVY and visibility was near zero. People asking cyclists to slow down the other cyclists dont care. Over 20crashes occurred some over flooded section with potholes. Quin baterna slid and fell. Rene tablante slid over railroad tracks while tiboy reyes following a chase group of 10 went wrong turn straight into a public school amidst cheering school children. Pinpin uy was besides a strong sprinter who told him not to sprint as the race was neutralized and cancelled. Pinpin didnt believe him. Anyway i have never raced in such dangerous conditions ever. The race WAS NEUTRALIZED AND CANCELLED at 110km mark.

Dear friends.

The sun was up and the rolling hill were wicked .FRANZIA
WINES international cycling team Mark Cook broke away with 18kms from
the start with a Cycleworx guy damian for over 122 kilometers
they were never caught and FRANZIA MARK COOK WON the race over wicked uphill finish
for 30 to 39category.

Pinpin uy had a puncture and was off the back. The other
FRANZIA rider who made a name for himself today was Keith Powell the Tokyo
based friend of eric carandang. He broke away from the 60km mark with another
guy . he got caught by 5guys and the last 5kms he fought like a tiger was 3rd
on the uphill finish! Boyaks pagnanawon of Team Excellent noodle was 1st in
the 50s cat. Overall Fantastic result for FRANZIA! Warmest congrats to all

FRANZIA keith powell was away with 426 guy at 60kms mark and later was reeled in by 5 other guys..7 guys did all the work near the finish 2 guys peeled off and Keith fought like tiger got 3rd over the uphill finish. FANTASTIC RACE!

Nellie and I wish that we were there too! What a fantastic result!!
The guy who broke away with Mark was Damain Barrett, another Irish guy
that I was trying to entice to ride with Franzia. So, you can say he is half
Franzia.... LOL!

Am with mae and pinpin at Kantary hotel lobby and she is tagging the photos to
franziacycling over facebook. RETRO FEVER HERE in tour of friendship with
ANZA and FRANZIA plus other team having retro jerseys. TJ. I met Damian
Barett of CYCLEWORX after the race I asked him to ride with mark Cook tomorow.
FRANZIA Mark cook 2nd overall GC I THINK. And FRANZIA keith powell is 2nd overall i think after 3days too.

So tomorow in the 30s and 40s category FRANZIA International (FRANZIA continental team as per some people's view)
will be on the watchlist of the strong teams. Hehe. Really wish you were here TJ. Even Glen PENDRY was

Matthew Kenfield of FRANZIA handsome guy only 26 did very well 11th today OPEN CATEGORY. Keith was so happy he went up podium 30mins ago. Mark cook is 1st GC 30-39 AFTER 3DAYS OF RACING and so he will wear LEADERS JERSEY tomorow. You know how STRICT i am Tj. Absolutely no Karaoke or Beer whatsoever for my Champion Team FRANZIA. Duh... the sexy lady massage i cant control that. Unfortunately i cant finish today. Fortunately i did TEAM manager support crew duties followed my boy Keith powell in his 70km 7man breakaway and watched 2 guy peel off. FRANZIA TEAM was assured of 5th place already but my boy Keith POWELL of TOKYO wants 1st so did a last push to snap 3rd! Way to go. All the teams congratulating Mark. He again said. CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL PHILIPPINE EXECUTIVE TEAMS!

Congratulation to our junior rider James Tiples who got 5th place in stage 5 and also got the 5th overall GC! Bravo Team Liven-PLDT.

My friend Raymond was supporting his team all the way to stage 5 and maybe the reason why he did not complete the 5 stages. Tour of Friendship was a very enjoyable race of my life and hope to race again next year which will be named I think "Global Friendship"

Last Thursday 26th november i packed bike, bag, and headed to Dagupan by myself to be adviser
and participant of VUELTA DAGUPAN 4 bike race. This race used to be a one day CRITERIUM ONLY
race in dagupan...until i suggested early on to make it two days and extend the race Dagupan up Baguio on day 2.

Saturday, Day 1 Criterium there were over 60 riders racing per category over
the seemingly easy (not true) race course... which has 500meter stretch of
BRIDGE which cyclists had to climb 10 times to finish...my heart rate redlining
after lap 2 when rex cortez (hbc) and leian cruz (bont) attacked..disintegrated the rest of
the riders who looked like they are having a subic climb road race instead of a
criterium...i feel powerless today...im worried already for stage 2 day 2..i may not
be able to make it after today i said. 7pm in the evening Organizers and me and dondie
we gathered mossimo team, Bont team, franzia team and cebu cycling..deposited the riders
to the famous MATUTINAS Restaurant (President GLORIA ARROYO and entourage eats here
when she passes by this town) and the organizers welcomed the guest
here..

Sunday . Day 2 DAGUPAN UP BAGUIO....is day of reckoning we have 90 riders
on paper..almost half of them NEVER BEEN UP BAGUIO and had worrisome look too.
The starting line and registration was held at the beautiful clubhouse of SAN MARINO PLACE
...around 830am the cyclists were released.

saturday evening november 27..welcoming dinner hosted by organizers of race ,with sponsors quin baterna, raymond see and dondie azarcon held at MATUTINA'S restaurant DAGUPAN

Motorcycle escorts were plenty and provided safe and secure race for participants...picture taken before start of race in SAn Marino

the first 35kilometers was neutral..cyclists had to go to bonoan town up san fabian
beach resorts ..up damortiz road towards ROSARIO near foot of KENNON ROAD..where
the riders were gathered..allowed to refill water bottles and do the pee. after
all riders checked in ..riders released OFFICIALLY FOR START OF RACE for second time
at ROSARIO.

from Rosario up the tunnel and the steep 14percent grade after the tunnel where the finish line is located

i never got to the front..but i hear the pack disintegrates after few kilometers
up the climb from PUGO...BAGUIO is the ultimate climb and from PUGO..around 42
kilometers of suffering before the finish.

i caught dondie up the mountains but at one point..i had severe cramp and he
overtakes me again...dropped me by 6 minutes...i have no answer..hats off
salute to DONDIE..extremely difficult race..im just happy i didnt black out
collapse...took me for the record 5hours 1minute 50 secs from STARTING LINE
in SAN MARINO PLACE..CONGRATULATIONS DONDIE.

Revelation for today for Franzia..THREE PERSONS...Edwin Mansueto, Philip Go
(check out the fotos see how EARLY philip arrived he is with edwin and CEBU
CYCLING STRONG RIDERS) ..and Doc Ramon Liboro who climbs BAGUIO for the first
time and FINISHED.

Revelation for the race Aussie BRETT HARRINGTON of CEBU CYCLING 3rd..for the
aussie great climber..who came all the way from Australia to try this one climb whom raymond see keeps proclaiming as the Philippines' cyclists Mecca...a must climb.

kaye lopez wowed so many persons with her beauty and strength

there was a 2kms, 1km, 500meter signage near the OFFICIAL finish line...and i think while this made the strong cyclists aware of the finish...makes me and rest of the guys suffer all the more...when you see how looooong you still have to climb to be able to finish...but i have to thank organizer for not imposing a cut off curfew and allow us normal human beings to finish..Thanks so much you made us very happy.

also i dont know if you noticed...the struggling riders were guided by 2 motor escorts as soon as they approach the dangerous tunnel before starting up the long climb..sometimes the tunnel is slippery when wet also some of the traffic there may be dangerous for cyclists so this MOTORCYCLE ESCORTS for raymond see and rest of the last riders is very very much appreciated..there was fog here when i entered the tunnel and so some bicycles equipped with blinkers and lightings but i didnt have them on... so my motorcycle escort had his hazard lights on.thanks so much.

it was a Great Race for all participants thanks to Rey Cemini Fewsky all the organizers and Kia and the JCI..to all my friends who came with my delegation from Manila...of course i know you enjoyed Bohol...the scenery... the good roads...friendly people...and the beautiful faces too ...good luck see you again on the road soon...we go where the bicycle takes us next.

to dondie azarcon...SALUTE for fair play...absolutely dominant this year in KIA IRON LEGS PART 3...i have no answer to your solid attacks..i already threw everything i got try drop you even before you click on your shoe cleats...you were absolutely amazing...on stage 2..we were neck to neck up the finish i lose to you two bike lengths..im absolutely spent at the finish not one pedal faster...thats the best i can do for this year...BRAVO my friend..GOOD JOB GOOD RACE...MANY MORE RACES TO COME...see you in the next race...
